Shocking Incident in Nehru Vihar

New Delhi: Authorities reported the tragic discovery of a 9-year-old girl found deceased, her body concealed within a suitcase in the Nehru Vihar locality of North East Delhi on Sunday.

The grim event unfolded on Saturday, with police suspecting sexual assault based on preliminary medical examinations.

As per reports, the young girl had gone to visit a relative on Saturday evening but failed to return home after two hours, prompting her family to initiate a search.

A passerby informed her father that she had been seen heading towards a nearby house, located about 200 meters from their residence.

Upon arriving at the building, the father found the door to a second-floor apartment locked from the outside. He forcibly opened the door and discovered his daughter’s lifeless body inside the suitcase. She was found unclothed.

In an interview, the father recounted, "When I reached that flat, I broke the lock. Inside, I saw the girl in a suitcase. She was unconscious. I took her to the nursing home right there in the street."

He added, "My daughter left home to deliver ice to my relatives nearby. When she didn’t return, we contacted them and learned she never arrived. During my search, someone mentioned she had gone to a flat nearby, and someone had called her inside. The building owner claimed the flat was locked and his brother had the keys. He said she had already left, but allowed us to check. When we went to investigate, the owner fled."

After breaking the lock, he found his child in the suitcase, he stated.

According to police reports, the father rushed the girl to JPC hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police statement noted, "On June 7, 2025, at approximately 8:41 p.m., a report of a minor girl’s sexual assault in Nehru Vihar was received at PS Dayalpur. Upon arrival at Gali No. 2, Nehru Vihar, the police team found that the unconscious minor had been taken to JPC Hospital by her father, where she was declared brought dead."

The attending medical staff observed visible injuries on her face and signs of alleged sexual assault, according to the police.
