Gwalior, Aug 31: Authorities in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, discovered the body of a 17-year-old girl in the bushes along Cancer Pahadiya Road on Monday, just hours after she was reported missing. Officials noted that ligature marks were present on her neck.

The victim, named Anaya, was employed at a saree shop located in Naya Bazar. Her family suspects that a young man named Ishan Khan, who resides in Mahalgaon, may be connected to her death.

As per family accounts, Anaya had a phone conversation with her mother around 9:05 p.m. on Monday, indicating she would be home soon. However, her phone was turned off approximately ten minutes later. Concerned for her safety, her family initiated a search and subsequently filed a missing person report at the Kampu police station.

Throughout the night, police and family members conducted extensive searches for the missing teenager.

On Tuesday morning, around 7 a.m., law enforcement received a tip-off regarding a body found in the bushes near Cancer Pahadiya Road. Upon arrival, the police confirmed the identity of the deceased as Anaya.

A forensic team was dispatched to the scene to gather evidence, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

The ligature marks on her neck have led investigators to suspect strangulation, although the definitive cause of death will be determined following the autopsy.

Family members have informed the police that Anaya was in a relationship with Ishan Khan and have raised concerns about his potential involvement in her death.

While the police have not verified these allegations, they are exploring all angles of the case. Investigators are also reviewing Anaya's call logs, mobile records, and other pertinent evidence to trace her activities after leaving work and the events leading to her demise.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be taken based on the evidence collected and the results of the post-mortem examination.

Kampu police station's SHO, Amar Singh Sikarwar, stated, "A search operation commenced immediately after the report was filed. The body was located near Cancer Pahadiya in the morning, and injury marks were observed on her neck. We are analyzing call details and other evidence. The cause of death will be clarified after the post-mortem report, which will guide our next steps."
