Tragic Death of Three-Year-Old Sparks Outrage Over Stray Dog Attacks in Telangana
Heartbreaking Incident in Peddapalli District
A tragic event unfolded in Telangana's Peddapalli district on Monday when a three-year-old girl, Divya Behera, was killed by a pack of stray dogs. Her family, originally from Odisha, works as migrant laborers at a brick kiln in Katnapalli village, located in Sultanabad mandal.
The incident occurred while Divya was playing outside her home. The dogs attacked her, seizing her by the neck and dragging her into nearby fields. Despite the efforts of local residents to intervene, she succumbed to her severe injuries.
This horrifying event has ignited anger among the community, with many residents calling for immediate action from municipal authorities to address the escalating issue of stray dogs.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragedy in Rajanna Sircilla district, where a seven-year-old boy named Aditya was also killed by stray dogs. Aditya was attacked while playing outside his home on April 1, and despite being rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad, he passed away on April 16 due to his injuries.
The state has seen a troubling rise in such incidents, raising alarms about public safety. In July of the previous year, an eight-year-old boy was fatally attacked by stray dogs in Hyderabad's Keshawanagar area. Jadhav Prasad, a Class III student, suffered critical injuries and died the following day at Gandhi Hospital.
Additionally, in July 2024, an 18-month-old boy was killed by stray dogs in Jawahar Nagar, Hyderabad. The toddler was playing outside when he was attacked, and despite his parents' efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Earlier in May 2024, a five-month-old baby boy was also mauled to death by a stray dog in Vikarabad district, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to protect the community from these dangerous animals.
