Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Young Woman's Death

Jaleswar: A young woman, Namita Kamila, aged 24 and the daughter-in-law of the vice-chairperson of Jaleswar Municipality, was discovered hanging under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday morning. Her family suspects foul play, alleging that she was murdered due to dowry demands and the recent birth of her daughter.

Reports indicate that Namita was found in her in-laws' home located in Patharpura, Ward No. 4 of Jaleswar Municipality in Balasore district around 10 AM. She was quickly transported to GK Bhattar Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. While her in-laws claim she took her own life, a relative, Sumitra Paul, has filed a complaint with the local police, asserting that Namita was killed and her body was staged to look like a suicide.

Originally from Chudamanipur Chakabishnu, Namita was married to Ritesh Kamila, the son of Pushpapriya, in 2022 after a romantic relationship. Following their marriage, she lived with her husband and extended family. Ritesh operates a utensils shop in the local market. Just ten days prior to her death, Namita welcomed a baby girl, which her parents believe led to increased mistreatment from her in-laws. They allege that this ongoing abuse ultimately resulted in her tragic death.

In response to the complaint, police have detained Namita's husband and uncle-in-law for questioning. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at GK Bhattar Hospital, and authorities have initiated an investigation, registering a case (280/25) based on the allegations.
