Incident Overview

A man, who was arrested for allegedly violating Bihar's liquor prohibition laws, tragically passed away while being transported to court on Thursday, according to an official report.


The accused, identified as Balendra Rai, was apprehended on Wednesday in Bhawanidih village, located in Muzaffarpur district.


Excise Inspector Deepak Singh stated, "Six liters of counterfeit liquor were seized from Rai. He was scheduled to appear in court today. However, during transit, he fell ill and began vomiting blood. He was rushed to the sadar hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his condition."


Family's Allegations

Rai's family, including his brother Nagendra, has alleged that his death was a result of "torture in custody."


In response to these claims, when reporters questioned the excise inspector about the allegations, he remarked, "You can all review the medical reports, which clearly indicate that there are no signs of injury on Rai's body."
