Tragic Death of 10-Year-Old in Varanasi: Mother and Boyfriend Under Investigation

In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a mother of two lost her husband two years ago. Following his death, she began a relationship with a young man from a different community. Tragically, on Monday night, her boyfriend allegedly killed her innocent 10-year-old son. The police identified the suspect through CCTV footage and apprehended him. However, during the arrest, he attempted to flee with a police firearm, prompting officers to shoot him in the leg, resulting in his injury. After being captured, the suspect confessed to the crime.

The victim, identified as Suraj, was only 10 years old. Reports indicate that Suraj had witnessed his mother, Sona Sharma, in a compromising situation with her boyfriend, Faizan, which led to the tragic incident. Authorities are also investigating Sona Sharma, as there are suspicions surrounding her involvement. She is currently undergoing rigorous questioning.

Investigation Progress

The incident occurred in the Machharhatta area of the Ramnagar police jurisdiction. A missing person report for Suraj was filed on Tuesday evening by his mother, stating he had been missing since Monday. DCP Gaurav Banshwal informed a media channel that Faizan became a suspect based on clues gathered from CCTV and surveillance.

Discovery of the Body

Meanwhile, police discovered Suraj's body in the bushes of Bawanbigha, where initial assessments suggested he had been strangled. After a midnight encounter, Faizan was arrested. DCP Banshwal reported that Faizan attempted to escape by seizing a police weapon during his capture. He sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was subsequently taken to the hospital, where he admitted to the crime.

Background of the Case

Authorities are also questioning a man named Rashid, who is a friend of Faizan. Sona Sharma remains a person of interest in the investigation. Two years prior, her husband passed away, after which she entered a relationship with Faizan. Sona has been living in Machharhatta with her two children, Suraj and a five-year-old daughter, following the tragic loss of her son.
