Tragic Collision on NH-43 Claims Two Lives in Madhya Pradesh

Fatal Road Accident in Anuppur District

Anuppur, March 20: A tragic incident occurred on National Highway-43 (NH-43) when a speeding vehicle crashed into a parked tractor-trolley, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, as reported by officials on Friday.

The collision took place late Thursday night while the car was traveling from Shahdol to Manendragarh in the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh.

According to police, the tractor-trolley was left parked on the roadside without any hazard lights or indicators, rendering it nearly invisible to drivers in the dim lighting conditions. The impact was so severe that it caused the car to overturn, leading to the immediate deaths of the passengers.

The victims have been identified as Dulare Sharma, aged 45, and Geeta Panika, aged 44, both of whom were in the car at the time of the accident.

Initial investigations indicate that the high speed of the vehicle may have hindered the driver's ability to notice the parked tractor-trolley in time. The driver and other passengers reportedly suffered injuries, but details regarding their conditions are still unclear as emergency services responded quickly to the scene.

Local police from the Tama station arrived promptly to secure the area, clear the highway, and begin an investigation.

The bodies were transported to a nearby hospital for autopsy, while the damaged vehicles were removed for further examination.

Authorities are looking into whether the tractor-trolley driver breached road safety regulations by parking without adequate warnings, a frequent issue in rural highway accidents. The families of the deceased are in profound grief, and community leaders have voiced their condolences while calling for justice and accountability.

The police investigation is ongoing, with a formal FIR filed under applicable sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Indian Penal Code.

This incident highlights the ongoing hazards present on Madhya Pradesh's highways, particularly NH-43, which serves as a crucial link between Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh but is infamous for its poor visibility at night, lack of proper signage, and frequent parking of heavy vehicles.
