Tragic Collision on Mumbai-Pune Expressway: One Fatality and Multiple Injuries

Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to 18 others. According to police reports, a speeding container trailer truck collided with at least 20 vehicles.

The collision happened near the Adoshi tunnel, within the jurisdiction of the Khopoli police station in Khalapur taluka, Raigad district.

Authorities stated that the truck driver lost control due to brake failure, leading to the crash involving various vehicles, including high-end models such as BMW and Mercedes. Nineteen individuals sustained serious injuries and were transported to a private hospital in Navi Mumbai, where one woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The driver has been apprehended by the Khopoli police. A medical examination confirmed that he was not intoxicated at the time of the accident. An investigation is currently ongoing.
