Devastating Accident in Ranga Reddy District
Hyderabad: A tragic accident occurred in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana on Monday, resulting in the deaths of 19 individuals and injuries to four others. The incident involved a tipper lorry loaded with gravel that collided head-on with a public transport bus, according to police reports.
The collision took place near Chevella in the morning, causing gravel to spill onto the bus.
Among the deceased were 10 women, as confirmed by a police official. The bus driver, who was en route to Hyderabad from Tandur, was also among those who lost their lives.
The exact number of passengers on the bus at the time of the accident remains unclear, as the injured individuals were in shock and unable to provide details.
Due to the gravel falling onto the bus, several passengers became trapped inside, prompting officials to use earthmovers for rescue operations.
Authorities successfully extricated the passengers from the bus, as reported by the police.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed his sorrow and instructed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and DGP Shivadhar Reddy to implement relief efforts immediately. An official statement indicated that the CM also directed several ministers to head to the accident site.
He emphasized the need to transport the injured to Hyderabad for advanced medical care.
