Fatal Accident in Phalodi District


In a devastating incident on Sunday evening, a mini bus collided with a stationary truck in Phalodi district, Rajasthan, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and leaving two others injured. The collision occurred around 6:30 PM on the Bharat Mala Highway as the bus was returning from the Kolayat Temple in Bikaner.


According to Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash, "Fifteen passengers lost their lives, and two others suffered serious injuries." The injured were initially taken to a hospital in Osian for emergency care before being transferred to Jodhpur for further treatment.


Eyewitness accounts indicate that the truck was parked near a roadside eatery, and the mini bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the accident happened.


The Prime Minister's Office has announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has instructed district officials to ensure that the injured receive adequate medical attention.


This tragic event follows another recent accident on October 14, where 26 people died when a sleeper bus caught fire near Thaiyat village due to a short circuit. Additionally, on October 28, two individuals lost their lives, and ten were injured when a bus came into contact with a high-tension power line in Manoharpur, located about 50 km north of Jaipur.


In a separate incident in Andhra Pradesh, at least 20 people were killed when a bus caught fire after colliding in Kurnool district on October 24.
