Tragic Collision in Maharashtra Claims Five Lives
Fatal Accident in Bhandara District
In a heartbreaking incident, five individuals lost their lives, and four others sustained serious injuries following a violent collision between a Maruti Omni and a truck while returning from a wedding in New Delhi. The tragic event occurred on Thursday night in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra, with the deceased including the groom's uncle and aunt.
According to police reports, the accident took place near the village of Adyal in the Pawani tehsil. The wedding party was traveling in the Maruti Omni when a tire burst unexpectedly, causing the driver to lose control and crash into an oncoming trailer truck. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was left extensively damaged.
The wedding of Lomes Naanhe's son had recently taken place in the village of Kondha. After the ceremony, nine members of the wedding party were returning home in the Maruti Omni when the accident occurred near the village of Saundal.
Identities of the Victims
The deceased have been identified as Prabhakar Chacharakar (48), his wife Munni Prabhakar Chacharakar (43), Durga Devaram Nangre (40), and two teenagers, Shweta and Naina Devaram Nangre (17), all residents of Adyal village. The Chacharakar couple had traveled from Velatur to attend their nephew's wedding.
The injured include the driver Soham Jageshwar Gadekar (25), Neha Giridhar Naanhe (18), Raksha Khedkar (20), and Umesh Sonawane from Khairlanji, Madhya Pradesh. All injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the general hospital in Bhandara district.
Charges Against Truck Driver
The police have filed serious charges against the truck driver in the FIR. It states that the driver was recklessly speeding, leading to the tragic accident.
The truck driver has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 215/2026, 281, 105, 125(b), as well as Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act (dangerous driving) and Section 134(a)(b) (failure to provide medical assistance).
