Horrific Truck Crash Claims Lives in Giridih

Giridih: A tragic road accident occurred in the Giridih district of Jharkhand on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals who were burned alive after three trucks collided and ignited near a toll plaza, according to officials.

Reports indicate that a speeding truck traveling from the Bagodar direction lost control and crashed into two stationary trucks parked by the roadside near the Kulgo toll plaza, which falls under the Dumri police station jurisdiction. The force of the impact was so great that the truck first struck a parked vehicle before colliding with another coal-laden truck ahead.

Following the collision, a massive fire erupted within the cabins of the trucks. The flames spread quickly, consuming the vehicles in mere minutes and leaving little chance for escape.

Tragically, a driver and a cleaner trapped inside one of the trucks were unable to escape and perished in the flames.

Witnesses reported that the fire was so fierce that locals could not approach the vehicles, despite their attempts to extinguish the flames and rescue those trapped inside.

Two of the trucks were completely destroyed by the fire, while the third suffered partial damage.

Emergency teams from the Dumri police station and the fire brigade arrived promptly after being alerted. Firefighters worked diligently to control the blaze, eventually managing to extinguish it. The charred remains of the victims were later retrieved from the wreckage.

Additionally, the driver of another truck sustained severe injuries and was transported to Dumri Referral Hospital with assistance from local residents. His condition is reported to be critical.

Dumri SDPO Sumit Prasad stated that efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased individuals.

He noted, "At first glance, it seems that the accident was caused by speeding and negligence."

The police cleared the wrecked vehicles from the roadway, allowing traffic to resume in the area.

A thorough investigation has been launched to determine the precise circumstances of the accident and assign responsibility, according to a police official.
