Tragic Collision Claims Five Lives in Uttar Pradesh: What Happened?

Mau (Uttar Pradesh): A tragic incident occurred late Friday night when an SUV returning from a wedding in Jharkhand collided head-on with a trailer truck, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, according to police reports. Among the deceased were three family members.

The collision happened in the Doharighat police jurisdiction on the highway, where the SUV, registered in Jharkhand, lost control, veered into the opposite lane, and struck an oncoming trailer, stated Jitendra Kumar Singh, the area circle officer.

The force of the impact was so intense that the SUV was left unrecognizable. Additionally, a pet dog accompanying the family also perished in the crash.

The victims were on their way back to Ranidiha village in Gorakhpur district after attending a wedding in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Two other passengers from Gaya district in Bihar were also in the vehicle.

The deceased have been identified as Vinay Srivastava (53), his spouse Archana Srivastava (48), their son Kritarth Srivastava (27), along with Ravindra Yadav (20) and Purushottam Kumar (28), both from Gaya.

Emergency services arrived promptly to the scene, initiating a rescue operation. After significant effort, the bodies were recovered and transported to the district hospital's mortuary for autopsy.

Authorities have seized both vehicles involved in the accident, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the precise circumstances leading to this tragic event.

Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the fatalities and offered condolences to the grieving families, as reported by officials.
