Fatal Incident in Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh), August 6 - A tragic incident occurred in the Nagar Kotwali area of Pratapgarh district when a dilapidated house collapsed during heavy rainfall, resulting in the deaths of six family members trapped under the debris. According to Ashutosh Mishra, the police area officer (Nagar), on Wednesday night, seven family members were asleep in a room of the house located in Mahuli Bazaar.


During the downpour, the structure gave way, burying them beneath the rubble. Neighbors, alerted by a loud noise, rushed to the scene and notified the police and fire department. Mishra reported that all individuals trapped in the debris were rescued and taken to a medical college, where doctors pronounced six of them dead.


The deceased include Pramod Srivastava (60), his wife Rita (55), their daughter-in-law Madhuri (24), and two grandchildren, Madhav (2) and Aadvik (10 months), along with another family member, Nitin (25). The police area officer also mentioned that Pramod's son Aman, who was injured, is currently receiving treatment. All bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Mishra noted that the house was approximately 100 years old and had become severely dilapidated.
