Mumbai, Sep 21: A high-speed car accident on Mumbai's Coastal Road has resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, with another person critically injured, according to police reports released on Monday.
Earlier today, an FIR was filed at Tardeo Police Station regarding the deadly crash that occurred early Sunday morning, between 5 a.m. and 5:20 a.m. A black luxury vehicle, traveling north from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali, reportedly lost control and crashed near Lotus Jetty.
The FIR details that the car broke through a barrier and fell from the flyover into an under-construction site below, leading to the fatalities of three of the four passengers. The extent of the damage to the vehicle was severe, with the car smashing through a signboard and suffering significant structural damage, including a crushed roof and shattered windshield.
The four young men in the car have been identified as Shanay Gujjar, 21, Dhairya Darshan Seth, 17, Aditya Jakasania, approximately 18-19, and Aditya Kalpeshwar Oswal, in his early 20s.
Authorities reported that Gujjar was found in the driver's seat post-accident. The FIR claims he was driving recklessly, leading to the deaths of himself, Seth, and Jakasania, who were seated in the back.
Oswal, the fourth occupant, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Nair Hospital for medical attention, where the other three were also taken but were declared dead upon arrival.
During the investigation, police retrieved four mobile phones from the scene, including three iPhones and one OnePlus device. Additionally, a Coach New York wallet was found containing a Rs 100 note and Jakasania's Aadhaar card.
Charges have been filed under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning reckless driving and causing death through negligence.
Investigations are ongoing.
