Devastating Incident in Kishtwar
A severe cloudburst struck Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and injuring over 50 others. This disaster occurred along the pilgrimage route to the Mata Chandi Temple, causing chaos among the devotees. Among the deceased is a member of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who was deployed for the pilgrimage, while three other CISF personnel are reported missing. Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and are currently conducting extensive operations to locate survivors and evacuate those trapped.

Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media to express that he has spoken with the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the cloudburst incident in Kishtwar. He noted that local authorities are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations, with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams having reached the site promptly. Shah assured that they are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to supporting the people of Jammu and Kashmir in every possible way.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commented on the seriousness of the situation, stating that verified information from the affected area is taking time to emerge. He mentioned that all possible resources are being mobilized from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir to manage the rescue efforts. Abdullah also indicated that he would refrain from speaking to media channels or news agencies, emphasizing that the government will share information as it becomes available. According to an official statement from the NDRF, approximately 180 personnel equipped with modern equipment have been dispatched from the Udhampur base.
