Tragic Bus-Truck Collision Claims 13 Lives in Andhra Pradesh

Fatal Accident in Markapuram District

In a devastating incident near Rayavaram, Andhra Pradesh, a collision between a bus and a truck resulted in the deaths of at least 13 individuals, as reported by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

According to District Collector P Raja Babu, out of the 41 passengers aboard the bus, 25 sustained injuries and were taken to a government hospital in Markapuram. Reports indicate that ten of these individuals suffered serious injuries, with five in critical condition.

The tragic accident occurred around 6 am when the private bus, traveling from Nirmal in Telangana to Vinjamuru in Nellore district, collided with a tipper truck loaded with gravel coming from Kanigiri. The impact caused a significant fire that engulfed both vehicles.

Chief Minister Naidu expressed his condolences on social media to the families affected by this tragedy and mentioned that he had coordinated with officials regarding the medical care for the injured. He also voiced concerns that the death toll might rise.

Furthermore, Naidu has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his condolences, labeling the incident as tragic. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

Since October, Andhra Pradesh has witnessed at least five significant bus accidents, resulting in the loss of over 35 lives.
