Prime Minister Expresses Condolences
New Delhi: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the tragic road accident in Chitradurga, Karnataka, which resulted in multiple fatalities. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning when a bus carrying 32 passengers was struck by a speeding truck, leading to a fire that engulfed the vehicle. Reports indicate that at least nine individuals lost their lives, with many suffering severe burns.
The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this unfortunate event, wishing a swift recovery for the injured. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on X, the ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each victim, while the injured will receive Rs 50,000.
