Fatal Collision in Chitradurga

A devastating accident occurred in Chitradurga, Karnataka, on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of at least nine individuals. The incident took place when a bus collided with a lorry, leading to a fire that engulfed the vehicle.


The collision happened around 3 AM on a highway near Gorlathu village, as the bus was en route from Bengaluru to Gokarna. Tragically, eight passengers aboard the bus and the driver of the lorry lost their lives in this horrific event.


Reports indicate that there were 32 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. Those who sustained injuries were promptly transported to medical facilities in Hiriyur town and Tumkur.


Inspector-General of Police Ravikanthe Gowda stated that the lorry driver was driving recklessly, which caused the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane, resulting in the crash. Additionally, the lorry struck a school bus, but fortunately, none of the school bus passengers were harmed.
