Tragic Bus Collision in Gujarat Claims Six Lives: What Happened?

In a tragic incident on Wednesday, six individuals lost their lives and eight others were injured when a speeding private bus collided with a passenger van on a highway in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district, according to police reports. Initial investigations suggest that excessive speed was a significant factor in the crash.

The collision took place near Jasvantgadh Patiya, along the route connecting Shamlaji and Ahmedabad.

As per police accounts, the van was en route from Shamlaji to Himmatnagar when it was rear-ended by the bus.

Inspector Alpesh Chaudhary from Gambhoi police station confirmed that six passengers in the van died instantly. He stated, "Six occupants of the van were killed on the spot, while four others suffered injuries."

The force of the impact severely damaged the van, and the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Their conditions have been reported as serious. Preliminary details indicate that the bus was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident.

"The collision seems to have been caused by the bus's excessive speed. We are aware of the situation and have launched an investigation," Chaudhary added.

Emergency services and police teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

Rescue efforts were initiated to extricate the victims from the wreckage of the van.

The accident also caused temporary traffic disruptions on the highway, leading to vehicle congestion as rescue operations unfolded.

A case has been filed, and further investigations are ongoing to clarify the events leading up to the crash, including the bus driver's involvement.

Authorities are currently recording statements and examining evidence from the accident site.
