Devastating Incident on Jammu-Srinagar Route
Udhampur. A tragic bus accident on the Jammu-Srinagar highway has resulted in the deaths of 20 individuals, with many others suffering serious injuries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various leaders have expressed their condolences. The Prime Minister announced a financial aid of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The death toll from the horrific road accident in Udhampur district has risen from 15 to 20. Officials reported that the incident occurred on Monday morning near the village of Kagot in the Ramnagar area when a passenger bus lost control and plunged into a deep gorge.
The bus was en route to Udhampur from a remote village when the driver lost control on a curve, leading to the vehicle falling into the gorge. Several passengers were injured and have been admitted to the hospital, with some in critical condition.
Following the incident, rescue operations commenced swiftly. Teams from the administration and police, along with local residents, worked together to transport the injured to hospitals. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of the accident. The area is in mourning, and the administration is closely monitoring the situation.
After the accident, Union Minister Jitendra Singh communicated with the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur regarding arrangements for airlifting the critically injured. He stated that rescue operations are ongoing and that they are in constant contact with the administration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 20 lives and the injuries of over 20 others in this tragic bus accident.
The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He also announced that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would provide ₹2 lakh to each family of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed their grief over the incident, directing the administration to expedite relief and rescue efforts and provide all possible assistance to those affected.
