Devastating Incident in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu: A tragic bus accident in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and left 20 others injured on Monday, according to officials.
The incident occurred around 10 am when the bus was navigating a blind curve near Kagort village in the Ram Nagar region.
Local residents were the first responders, rushing to the scene to assist in rescuing those trapped in the wreckage. Emergency services and police soon arrived to help evacuate the injured and clear the area.
Authorities reported that 15 bodies were retrieved from the bus wreckage, while 20 injured passengers were transported to a nearby hospital, with several in critical condition.
The bus was en route to Udhampur from a remote village when the accident happened.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh reached out to Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa following the incident, indicating that plans are underway to airlift the critically injured victims.
In a message on X, Singh stated, "I just spoke to DC Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, after learning about the tragic road accident involving a public transport bus traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur."
He added that a rescue operation was promptly initiated, and heavy casualties were anticipated. All necessary support is being provided, and arrangements are being made to airlift those seriously injured.
Singh mentioned that he remains in close contact with local authorities and the BJP team assisting in the rescue efforts.
