Tragic Bus Accident in Pakistan Claims Lives of Five
Fatal Bus Incident in Punjab
Islamabad, January 7: A devastating accident occurred in Punjab, Pakistan, where a passenger bus plunged into a ravine, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuring 24 others, as reported by local rescue services.
The incident took place around 2:15 AM local time on Wednesday, according to officials from Rescue 1122.
Qazi Muhammad Akram, a spokesperson for Chakwal Rescue 1122, indicated that the bus was traveling from Rawalpindi to Bahawalpur when the tragedy struck.
Due to fog conditions, the driver opted for an alternate route, which led to the loss of control near Dhoke Pathan village, causing the bus to fall into a ravine approximately 100 feet deep. Tragically, five passengers, including the driver, died at the scene, while 24 others sustained injuries. Rescue teams promptly arrived at the location following reports of the accident.
This incident follows a previous tragedy on December 31, 2025, when a collision between a bus and a van on the Jhang-Faisalabad road resulted in the deaths of over 14 passengers, with the toll rising to 17 as more victims succumbed to their injuries in the days that followed.
In another incident last November, three officers from the National Highways and Motorway Police lost their lives when a bus collided with their patrol vehicle near Uch Sharif, as reported by local media. The bus was en route from Karachi to Peshawar at the time of the accident.
