Heartbreaking Incident in Chitradurga

The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, expressed profound sorrow on Thursday regarding the fatalities from a bus accident in Chitradurga, assuring that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident.


According to a senior police official, a high-speed container truck collided with a luxury sleeper bus traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna around 2 AM on Wednesday night. The collision resulted in a fire engulfing the bus, leading to the tragic deaths of at least nine individuals.


Siddaramaiah took to social media platform 'X' to share his grief, stating, 'The horrific accident between a lorry and a bus near Chitradurga is heart-wrenching, with many passengers burned alive. It is extremely tragic that the journey of those heading home for the Christmas holidays ended in such a disaster.'


He further added, 'A complete investigation into the accident will be carried out to determine its causes. I pray for the souls of the deceased to find peace. My thoughts are with the grieving families during this difficult time.'


Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar also expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and the loss of life, stating, 'I extend my condolences to the deceased and wish for the swift recovery of the injured.'


Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda and the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), B. Y. Vijayendra, also conveyed their condolences regarding this tragic event, expressing sympathy for the families of the deceased and hoping for the quick recovery of those injured.
