Tragic Bus Accident in Ethiopia Claims Over 30 Lives: What Happened?
Devastating Bus Crash in Northern Ethiopia
Addis Ababa: Authorities in Ethiopia have reported that a tragic bus accident has resulted in the deaths of at least 31 individuals, with many others sustaining injuries in the northern Amhara region, which is currently experiencing conflict.
The bus, which was overcrowded, was en route from Dessie to the capital city, Addis Ababa, when it lost control and fell into a ravine early on Monday, as stated by the Kombolcha Town Administration Police Division.
The fatalities were exacerbated by delays in emergency services, as the region suffers from inadequate infrastructure and a lack of ambulance availability, necessitating the use of public transport for patient transfers.
This particular road is notorious for its treacherous conditions, winding through hilly landscapes. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
In a similar incident in December 2024, a bus plunged into a river in the southern Sidama region, resulting in 66 fatalities.
