In response to the tragedy, a group of senior doctors, including surgeons from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, arrived at the Chhindwara district hospital to assist with the treatment of the injured. Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushil Dubey confirmed that the medical team began examining patients based on CT scan results.

Rakesh Singh, the Public Works Department Minister and in-charge for Chhindwara, visited the hospital shortly after midnight to assess the situation. He reported that ten fatalities and 39 injuries were confirmed, with two critically injured individuals transferred to Nagpur Medical College for advanced care.

The accident took place when the bus attempted to overtake another vehicle, leading to a catastrophic collision with a pickup truck loaded with garlic, which caused the bus to overturn. The victims were returning from a beneficiary program hosted by the Chief Minister in Saunsar town.

Initial investigations indicate that excessive speed and carelessness during the overtaking maneuver were significant factors contributing to the accident. The district administration has initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
