Tragic Bus Accident in Almora District Claims Lives

Bus Plunges into Gorge in Almora

On Tuesday morning, a bus carrying passengers fell into a deep gorge near Bhikiyasain in Almora district. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), it is feared that six to seven individuals may have lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Upon receiving news of the accident, rescue teams from the SDRF were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Injured passengers have been admitted to the government hospital in Bhikiyasain for treatment.

Devendra Pincha, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Almora, stated, "Rescue teams have been sent to the site. There are reports of some fatalities."

Chief Minister Expresses Condolences

Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his sorrow over the incident. He mentioned that he is in contact with the district administration and that necessary assistance is being provided to the injured.

CM Dhami posted on X, "We have received very sad news about a bus accident on the Bhikiyasain-Ramnagar motor road in Almora district, which has resulted in the loss of passengers' lives. This incident is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching."

He further added, "Injured passengers are being promptly admitted to nearby hospitals by the district administration. Those with severe injuries are being referred to larger medical centers for better treatment. I am continuously monitoring the situation and am in regular contact with local administrative officials."

Local MP Ajay Tamta Shares Grief

Union Minister and MP for Almora-Pithoragarh, Ajay Tamta, has also expressed his condolences regarding the incident. He stated that police and rescue teams are engaged in a major rescue operation and that the injured are being treated at hospitals.

Tamta posted on X, "The news of the horrific road accident on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak route in Almora district is extremely sad and distressing. Reports indicate that a bus skidded off the road and fell into a gorge, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries among passengers."

He continued, "As soon as the incident was reported, teams from the administration and police arrived at the scene and are actively involved in the rescue operation, providing immediate medical assistance to the injured."
