Building Collapse in Indore

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a three-story building collapsed, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring twelve others who are currently receiving medical care. The incident occurred on Monday night in the Rani Pura area following heavy rainfall, trapping 14 members of a single family under the debris. After a rescue operation, twelve individuals were transported to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH) for treatment.

Authorities have confirmed the fatalities, identifying the deceased as Alifa and Faheem. District Collector Shivam Verma stated, 'Our rescue operation lasted approximately five hours and has concluded. Fourteen people from the same family were trapped under the rubble of the building.'

The twelve rescued individuals have been admitted to the government hospital for further care. The victims were identified as Alifa, aged 20, and Faheemuddin Ansari, also known as Faheem, aged 40. The District Collector noted that while the front of the building had been newly constructed with concrete, the rear section was older. An investigation will be conducted to assess the foundation's strength, as the building has collapsed on one side.

Dean of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Dr. Arvind Ghanghoria, reported that among the injured is a three-month-old baby, with four individuals in critical condition. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav mentioned that preliminary reports indicate the building was between eight to ten years old.

Additionally, part of the collapsed structure fell onto a neighboring building. Eyewitnesses noted that electricity in the Rani Pura area was cut off as a precaution during the rescue efforts, and police faced challenges in dispersing onlookers from the scene.
