Prime Minister Modi Responds to Boat Tragedy
New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic loss of Indian lives in a boat mishap in Vietnam, assuring that Indian diplomatic missions are extending all necessary support.
Reports from Vietnamese media indicate that the incident resulted in the deaths of fifteen Indian tourists.
Modi expressed his deep sadness over the unfortunate event involving Indian nationals near Phu Quoc, Vietnam, through a post on X.
He further mentioned that the Indian Embassy and Consulate are actively providing assistance, stating, "Our officials are also maintaining close communication with Vietnamese authorities."
The Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed his hopes for the swift recovery of those injured.
The speedboat, which was carrying 32 Indian tourists along with four crew members, capsized approximately 400 meters from Hon May Rut Ngoai, an island in the An Thoi archipelago, as reported by VN Express International.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Modi returned home after completing a two-day official visit to New Zealand.
