In a tragic incident in Jinjiang City, China, a devastating fire at a shoe manufacturing facility resulted in the loss of 28 lives, as reported by local officials on Thursday.
Footage from the scene depicted flames consuming the factory and spreading to adjacent buildings.
In response to the disaster, the Ministry of Emergency Management has sent a specialized team to Jinjiang City, located in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, to oversee rescue operations and manage the aftermath of the fire.
The blaze erupted around noon, according to the ministry's statement.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged authorities to prioritize search and rescue efforts, determine the cause of the fire, and ensure accountability for those responsible, as reported by the state-run Xinhua news agency.
