Tragic Ambulance Incident: Oxygen Cylinder Explosion Leaves Woman Severely Injured

Titilagarh: A woman was critically injured due to an explosion of an oxygen cylinder inside a 108 ambulance near Pipilpadar village, within the jurisdiction of Titilagarh police, on Friday afternoon. This unfortunate event occurred while newborn twins were being transported from the Maternal and Child Care Hospital in Titilagarh to Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further medical attention. The explosion resulted in severe burns and multiple injuries to Dutiya Jani, the twins' maternal grandmother.

Reports indicate that the mother and infants narrowly avoided serious harm during the incident. Rishabh Jani, the twins' father, suffered minor injuries while attempting to save his daughters. He had taken his wife Radha to the Maternal and Child Care Hospital late Thursday night due to labor pains, where she gave birth to twins early Friday morning. Due to the babies' low birth weight and the necessity for specialized care, medical staff recommended their transfer to Bolangir DHH. After securing an ambulance, Rishabh, along with his wife, their two newborn daughters, and Dutiya, set off.

However, shortly after departing, the oxygen cylinder exploded, igniting a fire within the ambulance. The injured woman was rushed to the government hospital in Titilagarh, while the newborns and their mother were transferred to Bolangir DHH in a different ambulance. The police in Titilagarh have launched an investigation into the incident, but hospital officials have not yet commented.
