Devastating Airstrike Claims Lives in Gaza
Gaza: An Israeli airstrike on a residential area in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, located east of Gaza City, resulted in the deaths of at least 29 Palestinians and left over 50 others injured, according to Hamas reports.
Mahmoud Basal, a representative from Gaza Civil Defence, informed a news agency that rescue operations are ongoing as teams search for survivors and recover bodies trapped beneath the debris.
Reports from Palestinian security sources indicate that the airstrike targeted eight neighboring homes, completely devastating the area with multiple missile strikes.
The Israeli military has yet to issue a statement regarding this incident.
This airstrike occurred as health officials in Gaza reported that hospitals had received 36 bodies and 41 injured individuals within the last 24 hours.
Since the resumption of military actions by Israel on March 18, the death toll among Palestinians has reached 1,482, with 3,688 reported injuries.
In another incident in the central Gaza Strip, two Palestinians lost their lives and one was injured when Israeli forces struck a residential building in Nuseirat, according to Basal.
Additionally, an Israeli attack on a tent housing displaced individuals in Khan Younis resulted in the deaths of an elderly man and a woman.
Gaza's Civil Defence has issued warnings that several victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded in the streets, inaccessible to emergency responders due to ongoing hostilities.
Earlier on April 3, at least 29 Palestinians were killed and over 100 injured in an Israeli strike on the Dar Al-Arqam school, as reported by the Hamas-run media office.
Among the deceased were 18 children, women, and elderly individuals.
Mahmoud Basal stated that the school was providing shelter for families displaced by the relentless Israeli bombardments.
"The army targeted it while it was housing many displaced people," he noted, adding that emergency teams were dispatched to the site to recover bodies and assist the injured amidst the destruction.
Local residents reported that the Israeli army launched three missiles at the school.
"The explosion was enormous. Many were killed instantly, and others remain trapped under the rubble," recounted Mohammed Alaa, a local resident.
Since the onset of the Israeli military campaign on October 7, 2023, Gaza health authorities have reported a staggering total of 50,846 Palestinian fatalities and 115,729 injuries.
