Tragic Airstrike in Iran Claims Lives of 40 Students

Devastating Attack on School

On Saturday, February 28, a missile strike attributed to Israeli forces tragically hit an elementary school for girls in Minab, located in Iran's Hormozgan province, resulting in the deaths of 40 students, as reported by the state-run IRNA news agency. The missile directly impacted the school building, leading to this heartbreaking loss of life. As of now, there has been no official response from Israel regarding this incident. The United States and Israel have previously conducted multiple strikes across Iran, including in the capital city of Tehran, which US President Donald Trump referred to as 'major combat operations.' These attacks occur amidst ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran concerning Iran's nuclear and missile programs, following an intense 12-day conflict between the US and Israel against Iran eight months ago.

Widespread Airstrikes Across Iran

According to Iranian state media, the coordinated US-Israeli strikes targeted various cities and sites throughout Iran. Smoke was reported rising over Tehran due to the airstrikes, with missiles hitting areas such as University Street and the vicinity of the Jomhouri area, close to the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as noted by Fars news agency. The Associated Press indicated that one of the strikes occurred near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the capital.

Additionally, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported explosions in Tehran’s northern Seyyed Khandan area, along with incidents in major cities like Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tabriz. Explosions were also noted in several western towns and around key Persian Gulf port cities vital to Iran’s oil trade, including Asaluyeh. In response to the joint strikes, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that the armed forces had initiated a decisive response to these aggressive actions. The statement urged citizens to steer clear of targeted areas and mentioned that the government had made arrangements to ensure the supply of essential goods. Schools and universities were ordered to close, while banks were instructed to remain operational.
