Tragic Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Family of Victim Calls for Support

Details of the Crash
The AI-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8, which was set to depart for Gatwick, London, tragically crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. Nganthoy Sharma Kongbralatpam, a cabin crew member, lost her life in this incident. Her father expressed his distress, stating that neither Air India nor the state government has provided any assistance following his daughter's death. He mentioned that he learned about the crash and subsequent rescue efforts solely through social media.
Family's Plea for Information
Kongrailatpam Nandesh Kumar Sharma, the victim's father, lamented the lack of communication from Air India. "I received all the information through social media, including details about the crash. However, we were not informed about what actions would be taken afterward. No representatives from Air India or the government visited us to provide updates," he stated, visibly emotional while speaking to reporters. He urged the state government to offer support to the grieving families, saying, "I just want the government to acknowledge our loss and assist us. With my daughter gone, I am left with no words to express my sorrow."
Casualties and Response
Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam was just 21 years old and part of the cabin crew on Air India flight AI 171, which crashed near Ahmedabad airport. The flight had a total of 242 individuals on board, with Air India confirming that 241 perished, leaving only one British national as a survivor. In response to the tragedy, the Tata Group has pledged financial aid of Rs 1 crore to the families of the deceased and those injured. Additionally, a health assistance team from Air India arrived in Ahmedabad to provide support.
Crash Investigation and Government Response
The aircraft fell shortly after takeoff from runway 23, with reports indicating that black smoke was visible rising from the crash site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with officials to review the situation and personally inspected the crash site.
