Tragic Accident on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway Claims Lives of Three Devotees

Fatal Collision on National Highway

Jaipur: A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning when a van transporting devotees from Maharashtra collided with a trailer truck on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway in the Bagru region of Rajasthan, resulting in three fatalities and 18 injuries.

The police reported that the crash took place around 1:50 AM as the van was descending from the Bagru overpass. The vehicle was carrying 28 devotees from Nashik, Maharashtra, en route to the Sanwaliya Seth temple located in Chittorgarh.

Chandrabhan, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Bagru police station, stated that the van struck the trailer truck that was in front of it. Tragically, three individuals died at the scene, while 18 others were rushed to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur for medical attention, with one in critical condition.

Injured passengers reported that the driver lost control while trying to overtake the trailer truck and suggested that he may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Pravin, one of the injured, mentioned that the group had departed from Jaipur around 10:30 PM on Friday. He expressed concerns, stating, 'We had advised the driver against traveling at night, but he ignored our warnings and had also been drinking.'

The van reportedly veered out of control while descending from the overpass, leading to the collision with the trailer truck.

Passengers seated at the front sustained the most severe injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the details surrounding this unfortunate accident.

The claim regarding the driver's alleged intoxication has yet to be verified independently.
