Tragic Accident in Manali Claims Two Lives and Leaves Three Injured

A late-night drive in the popular tourist destination of Manali, Himachal Pradesh, ended in tragedy when a Maruti Jimny SUV lost control and fell approximately 20 feet into the Manalsu stream near the Club House area in Old Manali. This unfortunate incident resulted in the deaths of two young men and left three others injured.

The accident took place around 1:00 a.m. Local police reported that Jayant Tiwari, the manager of Hotel Rest N Ramble, heard a loud crash from the roadside and quickly went to investigate. He discovered the black Maruti Jimny (HP26A-0011) severely damaged in the stream below and promptly notified the authorities.

A police team arrived at the scene swiftly and, with assistance from local residents, initiated a rescue operation. All five individuals trapped in the wrecked vehicle were rescued and transported to a nearby hospital.

The deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar, 32, from Mandi district, and Karun Baudh from Kullu. Despite medical efforts, both were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The three injured individuals—Vivek, Naresh Kumar, and Urmila—are currently receiving treatment and are being monitored for their conditions.

Authorities have placed the bodies in the mortuary in Manali, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted once the families of the victims arrive.

The precise cause of the accident remains undetermined. Investigators are exploring various factors, including speeding, driver error, and road conditions, to ascertain why the SUV lost control and fell into the stream.

The Manali police have filed a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident.
