Tragic Accident in Jodhpur Claims Lives of 15 Family Members

Devastating Collision in Rajasthan

A tragic incident occurred in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Sunday when a tempo traveler collided with a truck, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and leaving two others injured. The accident took place on the Bharat Mala Expressway near the village of Mathoda in Phalodi. Local police, along with residents and passing motorists, launched a rescue operation to retrieve the bodies and assist the injured.

According to authorities, all 18 deceased were members of the same family residing in the Surasagar area of Jodhpur. They were returning from a visit to the Kolayat temple in Bikaner after participating in prayers at the Kapil Muni Ashram.

Injured Victims Transported for Treatment

The injured were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Jodhpur for advanced treatment via a green corridor. All deceased individuals have been placed in the mortuary of the Osian government hospital. Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash Mathur visited the hospital to assess the medical arrangements, ensuring that the injured receive appropriate care. He expressed his sorrow over the loss of life in this road accident, stating, "It is extremely tragic that lives have been lost. However, arrangements have been made for the injured to receive proper treatment."

Ongoing Rescue Efforts and Condolences

Rescue and relief operations are still underway as officials work to identify the victims and notify their families. President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences over the loss of life and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a post on social media, she stated, "The news of the road accident in Phalodi, Rajasthan, resulting in multiple fatalities is deeply saddening. I extend my sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy and pray for the swift recovery of the injured."

Prime Minister's Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his sorrow regarding the incident, announcing a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. The Prime Minister's office shared on social media, "I am saddened by the loss of life in the accident that occurred in Phalodi, Rajasthan. My thoughts are with the affected individuals and their families during this difficult time. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured. Each family of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, while the injured will be given ₹50,000."
