Tragic Accident in Ballia: One Dead, Two Injured in Pickup Truck Collision
Fatal Collision in Ballia District
On Saturday morning, a pickup truck struck pedestrians in Ballia district, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving two others critically injured, as reported by local police officials.
The incident occurred around 6 AM near the Gadhiya Crossing in the Rasra police jurisdiction when the out-of-control pickup collided with the pedestrians.
According to Alok Gupta, the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Rasra area, the victim, Shankar Khurwar, aged 53, died at the scene. The injured individuals, Akhilesh Kumar Gupta, 60, and Ashok Kumar, 65, sustained serious injuries.
Initially, both injured parties were transported to the Rasra Community Health Center; however, due to their critical condition, medical professionals referred them to a hospital in Mau for further treatment.
The Deputy Superintendent confirmed that the deceased's body has been sent for an autopsy. Authorities have seized the pickup truck and are currently interrogating the driver, who has been taken into custody.
