Accident Overview

In a tragic incident in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh, a vehicle (SUV) crashed into a procession during the immersion of a Durga idol, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring over a dozen others. This unfortunate event occurred on Thursday night around 8:30 PM in the Pawai area of Panna, as reported by local authorities.


Dr. Yashwant Verma, the civil surgeon at Katni District Hospital, stated, "Fourteen injured individuals were admitted to the hospital, and unfortunately, two succumbed to their injuries during treatment." The deceased have been identified as Rakesh Patel, aged 36, and Purushottam Patel, aged 38. Among the injured are several children.


Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu confirmed that the SUV driver has been apprehended, and an investigation into the accident is underway. Following the incident, the injured were transported from Pawai, located 70 kilometers from the Panna district headquarters, to Katni District Hospital, which offers better medical facilities.
