Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Women in Jorhat

Jorhat, March 13: A tragic incident occurred on Friday when a speeding truck collided with a scooter, resulting in the immediate deaths of two women on National Highway 37 at Baduli Pukhuri in Teok, Jorhat district.

The victims have been identified as Kusum Guwala and Junmoni Guwala, both residents of Umabari in Jorhat.

Initial reports indicate that the women were riding their scooter towards Jorhat when the truck, traveling in the same direction, struck them from behind, causing them to be thrown onto the roadway.

The force of the impact was devastating, leading to critical injuries for both women, who tragically succumbed before any medical help could arrive.

Following the accident, local residents and bystanders quickly gathered at the scene, reporting that the truck driver fled the area immediately after the crash.

An eyewitness recounted the suddenness of the accident, stating that the victims were thrown off their scooter upon impact. “We were returning from college when we saw the two women pass us. The accident happened shortly after, and we heard a loud noise, witnessing the aftermath,” the witness shared.

“They struggled for a few moments, but by the time help arrived, they had already passed away,” the eyewitness added.

Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after and initiated an investigation, while efforts were made to locate the truck involved in this tragic incident.
