Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Three Pilgrims in Karnataka

Koppal (Karnataka), June 27: A devastating accident occurred on Saturday when a truck veered across the median and collided with a car carrying three family members en route to Mantralayam in Andhra Pradesh. This incident took place on National Highway-63 near Bhanapura, close to Kukanoor town in Koppal district.
The number of fatalities may increase, as two individuals among the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
The victims have been identified as Kenchamma Balekayi (35), Amruta Kotyal (25), and Ramesh Ballari (45), all hailing from Kabbar village in Haveri district. Praveen Balikayi (40) and Chinmay are currently in serious condition.
Additionally, four other passengers in the Omni vehicle suffered significant injuries during the crash.
Those injured have been taken to Koppal District Hospital for medical care. Initial investigations indicate that an Ashok Leyland truck, traveling in the opposite direction, crossed over the divider and struck the Omni van.
Authorities have visited the scene to conduct an investigation. A case has been filed at the Kukanoor Police Station, and inquiries are ongoing.
Basavaraj Bommai, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and current BJP MP from Haveri, expressed his condolences regarding the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of three pilgrims from Haveri district.
In his statement, Bommai described the news of the accident, which claimed the lives of three individuals from Rattihalli taluk and left several others injured, as deeply upsetting.
"I hope the departed souls find eternal peace. May God provide strength to the grieving families during this difficult time. I also wish a swift recovery to all those injured," he remarked.
Bommai has urged the Karnataka government to promptly provide adequate compensation to the families of the deceased and ensure that the injured receive the best medical care and necessary support.
