Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Four Family Members in Telangana
Fatal Incident in Siddipet District
In a heartbreaking incident in Telangana's Siddipet district, four family members, including two young children, lost their lives when their vehicle fell into a well, as reported by local authorities on Thursday.
The tragic event took place late Wednesday night near Appanapalli in the Dubbaka mandal of Siddipet.
The victims have been identified as D. Raju (30), his spouse Bhagya (25), and their children, Nihansh (4) and Shanvika (2).
All four were residents of Balwanthpur village in the same district. Raju, who worked as a sand trader, was returning home with his family after attending the 'Dasa Dina Karma' (10th-day rituals following a death) of a relative in Siddipet.
As they approached Appanapalli, Raju reportedly lost control of the car, which then plunged into an open well adjacent to the road. Local residents quickly notified the police and fire services.
Emergency responders utilized a crane to retrieve the vehicle and recover the bodies from the well.
The deceased were subsequently transported to the government hospital in Dubbaka for postmortem procedures.
Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding may have contributed to the accident. Authorities have opened a case and are conducting further inquiries.
In related news, Director General of Police C. V. Anand revealed that approximately 8,000 individuals died in road accidents across Telangana last year.
He emphasized that enhancing road safety is a top priority, with recent manpower restructuring allocating 224 personnel specifically for Traffic Management and Road Safety to bolster enforcement and accident prevention efforts.
The police plan to collaborate with engineering and other governmental departments to pinpoint accident-prone areas and address infrastructure issues.
Additionally, a statewide road safety initiative is in the works.
Last month, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to create a dedicated bureau for traffic management and road safety within the state.
He called for a thorough assessment of the transportation system and emphasized the need for an institutional framework for the new bureau.
Reddy also directed officials to conduct regular reviews every two to three months to evaluate traffic management strategies.
