Cyclist Dies After Being Struck by Truck in Chanduali
A tragic incident occurred in Chanduali district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday when a speeding truck ran over a cyclist, resulting in the young man's death, according to police reports. The accident sparked outrage among local residents, who subsequently blocked the road in protest. Authorities later intervened to restore traffic flow after calming the crowd.
The deceased has been identified as Tilku Chauhan, a 35-year-old resident of Khajur village in the Alinagar police jurisdiction. He was known to work as a laborer.
Chauhan was cycling along the Mughal Sarai-Panchvati route near Chittampur village around 12:30 PM when he was struck by a truck loaded with sand that was speeding from the opposite direction, leading to his fatal injuries.
In response to the traffic jam, Circle Officer Rajiv Sisodia arrived at the scene with police personnel. He assured the protesters that an investigation would be conducted, which helped in clearing the roadblock. Following the incident, the truck driver fled the scene, and police have since seized the vehicle and initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
