Traffic Advisory Ahead of T20 Match
On Saturday, the Delhi Traffic Police released a traffic advisory in anticipation of the T20 cricket match between India and Afghanistan, set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 13. The advisory indicates that traffic restrictions, diversions, and parking regulations will be enforced in the vicinity of the stadium starting from 2 PM.
This advisory coincides with the ongoing BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
In a post shared on X, the Delhi Traffic Police stated, "Due to the India–Afghanistan T20 Cricket Match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on 13.09.2026, traffic restrictions, diversions, and parking regulations will be implemented in and around the stadium area from 1400 hrs onwards."

Guidelines for Commuters and Spectators
The traffic police have urged commuters to plan their trips carefully and to avoid unnecessary travel through the match venue area.
"Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time, steer clear of unnecessary travel through the match venue, utilize alternate routes when possible, and adhere to the instructions of traffic personnel," the advisory emphasized.
Spectators attending the match are also advised to use only the designated entry points, parking areas, and app-based taxi pick-up and drop-off locations.
"Spectators are requested to utilize only designated entry, parking, and app-based taxi pick-up/drop-off points. For real-time traffic updates, please follow the official social media accounts of Delhi Traffic Police," the advisory stated.
This advisory is issued in light of the expected surge in spectators and vehicles around the venue for the opening T20I match between India and Afghanistan.
"Motorists are asked to remain patient, comply with traffic regulations, and cooperate with traffic personnel stationed in the area. Please follow diversion signs and traffic directions to minimize congestion," the Delhi Traffic Police advised.
Commuters are reminded to heed the instructions from personnel on-site and to use alternate routes wherever possible to avoid traffic jams during the match.
The first T20I between India and Afghanistan is scheduled for September 13.
