MANDI: A troubling incident of alleged physical assault and verbal harassment against tourists has emerged from the Mission Road vicinity near Hotel Bodh International in Manali. Following a complaint from a tourist hailing from Haryana, a case has been filed at the Manali police station. The complainant reported that his wife, who was carrying their four-month-old daughter, was reportedly assaulted and thrown to the ground during the confrontation.

According to FIR No. 99/25, dated June 23, 2025, the incident took place as Pradeep (35), a resident of Satnali in Mahendragarh district, was returning from a sightseeing trip to Vashisht on a rented scooter. Accompanied by his wife Deepika (28), their infant daughter Jia, and other family members, they were on their way to return the rented vehicles around 5 PM when the altercation occurred.

Pradeep, riding a Scooty (HP66A-4417), reported that a Jeep (HP58-3210) was obstructing the road near the hotel. A man allegedly requested the keys to the Scooty to move the vehicle. After Pradeep handed over the key but the obstruction persisted, he asked for it back, which led to a heated exchange. In a shocking turn of events, the man reportedly seized Deepika by the neck and threw her to the ground, despite her holding their infant daughter, who also fell onto the road.

As Pradeep’s brother Gopal rushed to assist, four individuals allegedly joined the initial attacker and physically assaulted the family. The victims reported being punched, verbally abused, and threatened with severe repercussions.

In response to Pradeep’s allegations, a case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is currently being conducted by Investigating Officer Manoj Negi (Badge No. 78) of the Manali police.
