TMC MP Mahua Moitra Sparks Controversy Over BJP Leaders' Alleged Activities
Controversial Revelations by Mahua Moitra
On Thursday, Mahua Moitra, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), ignited a new controversy by publicly disclosing the alleged whereabouts and activities of two senior BJP leaders in Kolkata. She issued a stark warning that even the party president would not be able to protect them. This incident coincided with the first phase of voting in Bengal, during which sporadic incidents of violence were reported. In a pointed post on social media, Moitra shared an image resembling a hit list, featuring BJP leaders Saurabh Singh and Professor Swadesh Singh. Also included in the image was tennis legend Leander Paes, who recently joined the BJP and was born in Kolkata. The names of the two leaders were circled in red, with the letters 'S+S' prominently displayed, likely indicating their initials.
Allegations of Voter Manipulation
The MP from Krishnanagar suggested that former BJP MLA Saurabh Singh was involved in distribution activities aimed at influencing voters in Bengal. She revealed their current location and hinted at their next destination. Moitra tweeted a warning to Saurabh Singh, stating, "After my tweet, you will check out from Elgin Hotel and head to Novotel with your team to continue your distribution work. This is Bengal - not even Nitin Naven can save you here." This was not the first time Moitra issued such a warning; in a previous post, she accused these leaders of being sent by the BJP high command to distribute money and collect dues. She questioned the presence of Swadesh Singh, a professor at Satyawati College, and Saurabh Singh in Bengal, alleging they were extorting money by calling people and using Nitin Naven's name.
Tensions Rise Amid Election Violence
Following her statements, Moitra issued a stern warning, stating, "We are watching you - you will not escape." The BJP has yet to respond to Moitra's threats and her attempts to disclose the locations of its leaders. This unfolding situation comes at a time when tensions have escalated, with reports of violence and attacks on candidates in various regions of Bengal.
