Kirti Azad's Strong Support for Mamata Banerjee
TMC MP Kirti Azad expressed unwavering support for Mamata Banerjee on Thursday, asserting that he is not like those who flee during tough times. He mentioned that despite facing pressure from various quarters, he believes in standing by each other in challenging situations. Azad emphasized that Mamata didi has done a lot for him, and he cannot betray her during this difficult period. He also noted that he has been subjected to increased pressure, including the removal of his security detail. However, he stated, 'If they have taken away my security, so be it; we will fight.'
Azad reiterated, 'We stand together; we are not the rats that run away in tough times. We are those who support each other when the going gets tough. Didi has done so much for us; we cannot let her down.' He criticized the notion that some individuals have been in power for 30 or 40 years, stating that such thinking is flawed. Regarding rumors of a merger between Congress and TMC, he dismissed them as false, asserting that the elections will be fought as a coalition, which will remain intact.
He further commented on the alleged strength of the opposition, questioning the claims made about their numbers. Referring to Amit Shah's 'Operation Lotus,' he remarked that if they truly had the numbers, a list would have been presented by now. Azad pointed out that they have been hearing about 20 MLAs since June 6, yet no list has materialized. He accused the opposition of switching parties under the guise of corruption, citing Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar as a prime example, who was caught on camera accepting a bribe of 500,000 rupees.
Earlier in the day, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha also voiced his commitment to Mamata Banerjee during challenging times. He recalled how she stood by him during difficult phases of his political career. Sinha acknowledged that while some may abandon Banerjee out of necessity, fear, or greed, he remains steadfast in his principles, vowing not to leave the party or its leader.
