In response, TMC MP Dola Sen expressed her belief that truth and justice will prevail. The FIR was filed on May 15 at the Bidhannagar North Cyber Crime Police Station, accusing Banerjee of delivering provocative, threatening, and inciting speeches during political rallies, which allegedly incited violence, fostered hostility, and disrupted public peace.
Details of the Allegations
The complainant, Rajiv Sarkar, referenced speeches made by Banerjee at rallies in Maheshtala, Arambagh, Harinagar, and Nandigram between March and April. These speeches reportedly included threats against opposition workers and aggressive language that could lead to public disorder and political unrest. It is noted that these comments were made through Banerjee's official Facebook account, 'Abhishek Banerjee Official', and other social media platforms.
