Foundation Stone Laid Amidst Security

Baharampur: On Saturday, suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir initiated the construction of a mosque designed after Ayodhya's Babri Masjid in Rejinagar, located in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, all under strict security measures.

Kabir, alongside visiting clerics, performed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting as attendees chanted slogans like 'Nara-e-Takbeer, Allahu Akbar', with thousands present since the early hours.

The event was heavily secured, with significant police presence, Rapid Action Force (RAF), and central forces deployed throughout Rejinagar and nearby Beldanga to ensure public safety.

Earlier this week, Kabir was suspended from the Trinamool Congress for allegedly engaging in 'communal politics'. He had previously announced the foundation-laying event, which drew political backlash and led to increased security from the state administration.

The date chosen for the ceremony, December 6, is significant as it commemorates the anniversary of the Babri Masjid's demolition.
