Incident Involving Soumitra Banerjee

On Tuesday, in the city of Raniganj, located in West Bardhaman district of West Bengal, another incident unfolded involving a leader from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Soumitra Banerjee. He was pelted with eggs while being escorted to court by police following a complaint from a BJP leader. Footage from the scene shows a crowd throwing eggs at Banerjee as he was placed in a police vehicle, chanting 'thief, thief, thief.' Law enforcement quickly intervened to manage the situation and ensured the TMC leader reached the court safely. Banerjee's arrest stemmed from allegations of assaulting BJP workers, as reported by BJP leader Ravi Keshari.

Kunal Ghosh Also Targeted

Egg Attack on Kunal Ghosh

This incident occurred just a day after senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh faced a similar attack outside the residence of former Chief Minister and TMC head, Mamata Banerjee. As Ghosh was leaving Banerjee's home, a local youth threw an egg at him. The assailant, identified as Chandan, later claimed that his actions were motivated by dissatisfaction with the TMC. Ghosh described the incident as unfortunate, asserting that the attackers were BJP miscreants and that he narrowly avoided injury. He noted that police were present at the scene but did not take any action.

Ghosh's Account of the Incident

Kunal Ghosh recounted, 'I had attended a meeting at Mamata Banerjee's residence. After the meeting, as I was exiting, journalists approached me for interviews. While I was responding to their questions, two boys targeted me and threw an egg. One of them threw the egg, and I managed to dodge it; otherwise, it could have been serious. It is very unfortunate that such an incident occurred near Mamata Banerjee's home, especially considering she has Z-category security.'
